Butterfly/Lazy Days 07 - Tail wheel add-on

Butterfly/Lazy Days 07 - Tail wheel add-on

Planes have got to be ground steerable. At least that is my feeling. So I added a Dubro Micro Steerable Tail Wheel

I had to add a small piece of hardwood to the last few inches of the the fuse. I used my small hand drill (Hobbico Quick Drill Set w/Pouch) set to get 2 small holes drilled.

I did strip away the covering, applied CA and Kicker and just for grins added a zip tie just for extra precautions.

Butterfly/Lazy Days 06 - Vertical stab

Butterfly/Lazy Days 06 - Vertical stab

Ok today its the Vertical Stab. Fits together pretty good. The big nit for me is the hinging mechanism, it utilizes the clear covering as the hinge. It is very poor. It does not allow true centered left/right defection. It sort of waggles and is very sloppy. I tentatively applied some Blenderm tape on the left side as shown in the photo to counteract some of the slop.

I really feel I should slice the rudder off and put some type of hinging in/on the vertical stab. That will be for future posts after the maiden flight...

Butterfly/Lazy Days 05 - Horizontal stab

Butterfly/Lazy Days 05 - Horizontal stab

Now for the horizontal stab. Pretty easy here just line it up with the notches and she sits real perfect. Vertical stab to follow....

Butterfly/Lazy Days 04 - Servos

Butterfly/Lazy Days 04 - Servos

Ok next up is the servos.
I used some Hitec HS-55s that were lying around. Link

Not much to this. Just decided to have the servo leads pointing toward the receiver. Oh, I did apply some thin CA to wick into the screw holes to give a better grip and provide some strength so the servos would not crack the wood.
