Great Planes Yak 55 3D FlightFlex EP ARF Part 3

Elevator installed...

The elevator install went pretty well.. I test fitted the carbon fiber rod in the elevator before installing it to the tail. No cutting needed. I then fitted the elevator to the horizontal stabilizer and tested the swing of the elevator. Wow that was very smooth and swung freely.

My concern now was not being heavy handed with the glue, and getting it all over the place and not having the elevator swing freely.. See previous post on my episode with the ailerons mess-up. Anyway this time all went well.

I made sure all the surfaces were in alignment using those bull-dog clips as seen in the pix. Now looking at that pix I think I might add some bracing flying wires.. I don't know yet but it look like it could use it..

St. Marys Wall Bangers - SMWB Part 7

Events of Saturday May 13, 2006

  • Quite the show.

  • Lots of crashes, WOW

  • Jacq warmed up the GWS Slow Stick with some loops then with the ribb'n of Alan decided it would be good to fly inverted. Well the first attemp went pretty ok. The next several were pathetic.

  • Ross was ever the smooth operator with his Jazz Bipe. Alan and Jacq even got to give it a flight around the patch. Then Alan and Jacq decided to be human pilons and Ross flying between them. It was a blast.. There was some extremely close flying going on!!! Jacq even got swiped with the spinning prop.

  • John had his Pico Stick buzzing around the gym and was at times chased by Jacq's Slow stick.

  • Alan did loops and rolls with his IFO and even did a beam tap head on with the rafters and then recoverd and landed on the stage. Several other maneuvers were performed and then major crashes were had by Alan and Jacq.. Both were repairable but the evening flying was about over so we all packed up..
