Fancy Foam - Mini Ultimate Series Part 2

Painting

Well I did a quick read of the instructions. Looks pretty straight forward. So I thought about it for a few days and also looked on the Fancy Foam site Gallery for paint schemes. Did some more thinking and decided to go for it.

Here are some pix showing the initial setup before painting.

I chose Testors Paint 2905 Burgundy Red Metallic and proceeded with my striping. I painted the top wing on its topside fully and the bottom wing on its bottom with strips. I duplicated this scheme with the elevator.

For the nose and rudder I masked out some foam to give it some "coming and going" color.

Total paint usage 1.5 cans.

Wife likes the outcome. But I'm not too happy with the overspray and paint seepage..

Fancy Foam - Mini Ultimate Series Part 1

Arrival

I went home for lunch today and waiting on my porch was the box from Fancy Foam. The Fancy Foam Mini Ultimate. Yippie.. Boy it sure was light..

I got it to the kitchen and quickly cut all the tape away and opened the box. Suspended by 4 foam blocks was the airplane. I ordered 2 extra gear, those were taped down as well as the instructions, Berg receiver, and the rods/square dowel. Everything else was in a small rectangular spot well packed. I did a preliminary inventory and all look ok.

Here are some pix..

Now I have to decide on some color scheme... I forgot to order tape.. D@MN! The instructions look fairly straight forward so this should be a quick build. If so, I am thinking of that Sukhoi SU-29...

St. Marys Wall Bangers - SMWB Part 3

Events of Saturday March 25, 2006

  • Non eventful evening..

  • John and Randy started off the Helo dominated evening with their crafts.

  • Jason got a maiden flight in with his new Fancy Foam Chitty 3d bipe. Sweet Plane. Been thru some sweet maneuvers.. :)

  • Alan and Randy were wringing out the pizza plate, minor accident and I missed it.. Don't know who was flying and what happened I think there was a broken prop/dowel problem...

  • John, Randy and I had our GWS gear burning holes in the airspace.

  • Then Alan had the great idea to pull the volleyball net across 1/2 the gym and Randy was the first to give it a limbo shot.. Did really good. Jacq gave it a few shots and then John.. John had a few pole strikes tho.. Think his pico stick was a tad scared..

  • Jason gave it another go with his Chitty bipe.

  • A few more spins around the patch and we all called it a night.

  • Alan got the wheels made for the basketball goals...

  • Next Fly-In ***TBA***
