Topeka Fly-in -- Blue Sky Squadron International

Went to a local fly-in recently. It was sponsored by Blue Sky Squadron International Model Aircraft Association Airshow.

It was co-sponsored by the owner of Dee and Mee Hobbies here in Topeka. It was held at Bob's field just southeast of Topeka, near Forbes Field.

Bob has a really nice field and I got to take a lot of pix of some really nice planes.
"This is as close to Kansas' own field of dreams as you can get," said Ken Bina, a Topeka pilot who has devoted more than three decades of his life to building and flying scale model airplanes. Bina lives in North Topeka, but doesn't mind driving about 20 minutes to Longyear's airfield at 4535 S.E. 69th in Berryton.

Snoopy even made an appearance, piloted by Mr. Ken Bina
Today, he will pilot his 40-percent scale version of a Breezy at the Blue Sky Squadron International Model Aircraft Association Airshow at 69th and Paulen Road. The plane has a wing span of 13 feet, 10 inches, and can reach speeds up to 65 mph.
