Powerline Hobbies Yak Part 01

Part 01 Tail Assembly

The instructions are pretty straight forward, only encompassing 5 pages.

First step is to build the tail.
Basically slide the vertical stab into the horizontal stab. Watch the orientation of the control horns and the small "L" shaped bracket.

Next slide the whole stab assembly into the fuselage pressing in firmly but not forcefully as far forward as possible.
I got a tip from a fellow modeler as to strengthening that section of the airplane.
First see if the horizontal stab is in line with the paint scheme that should be a level point. If not then you probably have too much up and will cause you to have to trim down in the elevator. He suggested taking a small piece of sandpaper and gently gliding it back and forth on the bottom of the ledge where the horizontal stab sits this will remove some product and allow the horizontal stab to be more in line with level.

He then suggested sharpening a small carbon fiber rod and pushing it in from the top of the vertical stab all the way through to just in front of the wheel as this will help nail down any movement in the vertical and horizontal stabs.. Pretty cool. I have not tried this as of yet. My plane is level along that line mentioned above and does not move much if any at all.

Proceed to attach all screws and the tail assembly is just about complete.

Lastly attach the control rod/clevis to the rudder and elevator servos. Note. The clevises only go in on the horn side not the servo side. Some have it backwards and have had to drill out the holes.. Nope that is backwards....
