Battery Bunker

Battery Bunker

In a past post I spoke about the Battery Bunker as well as the Lipo Sack. I discussed the need for a good protection plan when it comes to charging Lipo batteries.

I was using the flower pot method

as I did not want to spend the money on a Battery Bunker as I felt it could break if I was to get too careless with it. Also carting it around is cumbersome. Although I did find new and innovative ways to keep it from getting broken. Such as getting a cheapie tool box from Wal-Mart placing the BB inside and then filling the tool box with sand around the BB too keep it from getting bounced around and it also make for good fire protection...

Anyway, I went with the Lipo Sack. Well, I was at the Local Hobby Store this weekend and saw the BB in person. Well I looked it over real good. What the heck, I could not pass it up. I had to give it a try.

It was packed pretty good.

It also came with a ziplock bag of Vermiculite that is to be placed at the bottom of the BB still in the bag to give it a softer base for the batteries to rest on. It has fireproofing attributes so its a good thing to have there.

The instructions also mention using a little epoxy around the edges of the battery wire slot to provide a smoother surface to prevent chaffing.

All in all the BB works pretty good. Put the flower pots away for now and that freed up some much needed work bench space.

Battery Bunker site is here.
