Futaba 9CAFS 9-Channel FM Super Tx/Rx Part 0
The rig arrives....
This is quite the radio... All the order from Tower Hobbies arrived safe and sound. Briefly turned the unit on as I could not help myself. I think I pushed the right buttons it asked for... Better start reading that big manual. I know I can skip the helicopter sections as I don't own one of those. I might just briefly skim the glider info.
It has a NICD battery for the Tx, hmmm I wonder if I can upgrade that to a NIMH or better. Briefly in the instructions it says to fully discharge the battery every few times (3 I think??) to make sure you get the full use of he battery capacity. I will have to do some research on that. Anybody have any ideas??
I also ordered the Futaba 9C/9CS Synthesized Transmitter Module 72MHz. The 9CAP I had to order with a non standard freq that I run on - 40. I usually run on 53 and 44. Well I would have had to wait for the 44 as my thoughts were to run all my high performance planes on 44 well they did not have 44. Bummer so its either wait, get another freq and re-crystal all the 44's or get the synthesized module. So I went ahead and ordered the synthesized unit. Did not get the synthesized receiver. Maybe later but right now I'm happy with the 44 and 53 channels.
Dual rates and Expo are going to be the my main focus. I have never "really" done dual rates. We tried it on my Tower Hobbies 6 channel and I certainly never did any Expo. But seeing the "jumpiness" of the Fancy Foam Mini Ultimate (which is why I got this radio) I know I'm going to have to learn more about this feature.
